Overview/Guidelines:
The state of West Virginia requires that a physician register as a dispensing physician and fill out an Application for Drug Dispensing Registration with the West Virginia Board of Medicine. The registration gives a physician who is authorized to prescribe medications in the state the ability to dispense those medications during the normal course of practicing medicine as long has he or she complies with state and federal law.
Required Documentation:
A dispensing registration and permit is required depending on the physician’s and patient’s individual need to dispense.
