Hawaii

Physician Dispensing Allowed:

Yes

Overview/Guidelines:

The state requires that all physicians who handle, store or dispense pharmaceuticals to file for a miscellaneous permit with the Hawaii Board of Pharmacy before dispensing medication. Once licensed a physician who is authorized to prescribe medications in the state has the ability to dispense those medications during the normal course of practicing medicine as long has he or she complies with state and federal law.

Required Documentation:

A dispensing registration and permit is required depending on the physician’s and patient’s individual need to dispense. If applicant is a corporation, partnership, LLC or LLP, submit proof to show that the entity is properly registered with the Hawaii Business Registration Division.
