Overview/Guidelines:

The regulations for in-office physician dispensing in Pennsylvania state that a physician does not have to obtain an additional permit or license to dispense at the point of care. There are rules concerning the dispensing of Schedule 2 narcotics and a limit of a 30-day supply on all other medications dispensed in-office. With those exceptions Pennsylvania physicians are authorized to prescribe medications in the state and to dispense those medications during the normal course of practicing medicine as long has he or she complies with state and federal law.
